How would you describe your art? The first thing that will strike you when you view my artworks are the colours (bright and unflinching), then the marks (robust and unapologetic). The forms, while abstract, can be challenging and cryptic in their expression. My paintings aren’t afraid to be loud and take up space. What do you love

most about painting? There’s a freedom in painting that I don’t experience in other spaces. I’m impatient, so acrylic paint works perfectly for its quick-dry capabilities. The final step in all my work is done with an oil stick: thick, textured and spreads like butter – so satisfying. What inspires you? I’m more motivated and productive when I move between different contexts. I find that ideas and emotions never run dry if I do this. I’ve just finished my Masters of Therapeutic Arts Practice, I work as a graphic designer, and I mentor queer young people, all avenues that inform and enhance my work. Do you take

commissions? Sure do! What price range

do you work in? Between $800 and $4000.

Where can we buy your art? Michael Reid Studio Direct in Sydney, Studio Gallery in Melbourne, Art Images Gallery in Adelaide. katieeraser.com; @katie.eraser
