Her layer-by-layer style guide
+ Living area “Layers of natural fibres and a pop of greenery work every time — and don’t forget to add touches of black! If your home doesn’t have architectural details, white walls aren’t going to help you, so try out a deeper colour palette or a texture such as the grasscloth wallcovering we chose.” + Kitchen “Mix it up in here. Light and dark, lines and curves and a mix of metals create contrast, which keeps your eyes engaged.”
+ Dining area “Need more seating? A 120cm-wide dining table allows for two chairs at each end. In addition, having a bench seat in a patterned fabric will really personalise your space. A knockout lamp will provide a focal point and cast a beautiful glow over the setting in the evening.” + Main bedroom “The eye loves
triangles. In this case, starting with the wall, it travels down to the pillows, along the bed to the throw and finally the ottoman and rug, which draw the eye down to the floor. This room also has a great spot to perch while dressing.” + Layering “With a tight colour palette, you can add in all sorts of interesting detail without the room looking too busy. The result will be a calming space with a plethora of visual treats. In this project we used: oak flooring for a coastal vibe; V-groove panelling and grasscloth to create contrasts of light and dark; a marble mosaic kitchen splashback to add movement and pull together other elements in the vicinity; Organic White Caesarstone to keep it simple; linen curtains and fabrics; bouclé, velvet, leather and sisal; plus pops of brass to add a little more sophistication.”
