Inside Sport - - THE BREAKDOWN -

In an idea that seemed like it came out of a conference room brainstorming session, the AFL presented AFLX.Touted as Aussie rules’ answer to T20 (you know, because the game is so slow and boring), this game is played seven-on-seven on a soccer-sized pitch, with ten-minute quarters. The AFL is looking at filling the September bye week with a showcase event, with non-finals sides contributing to a prize pot. We like Max Gawn’s suggestion: instead of clubs, how about pick-up sides?
