Personally, early in a net session I’m just trying to settle in, trying to read the pitch and find out
what it’s doing; gauge the pace of the wicket and stuff like that ... exactly like you would in a game. I would do that for probably the first 10-12 balls of the session. From there you’re picking certain balls which you could potentially attack, and then weighing up other bowlers. I play the ball on its merits and respect each delivery. Everyone goes into the nets with a different mindset, but being in the T20-focused part of the season, you’re going to be more attacking in these sessions. It’s about reading what’s going to happen just a little bit earlier.
