Basetsana Kumalo is a South African TV personality, beauty peagant title holder, businesswoman and philanthropist. Her career began in 1990 when she was crowned Miss Soweto and Miss Black South Africa at the age of 16.She was crowned Miss South Africa in1994 and in the same year became the first runner up in Miss World.
Kumalo left school planning to follow in her mothers footsteps as a teacher.But before she was enrolled at the University of Venda, she won Miss South Africa.
She started presenting Top Billing during her Miss SA reign and formed a partnership with the shows producer, Patience Stevens.
Tswelopelo Productions was born with Kumalo owning a 50% stake. The company is accredited by Impumelelo as one of South Africa’s top 300 empowerment companies.
In 2008, she became a new Tawana shareholder. She also sits on the boards Unipalm Investment Holdings, Tactic Group Limited, SME financial holdings, Seven Falls, Morongwa and more.
Bassie sits on several boards and she is a force to be reckoned with in the business world
