A MAN allegedly attempted to drive a car against the flow of traffic during a pursuit on the Mitchell Freeway in Padbury but crashed into a police car last month. Officers first spotted the allegedly stolen vehicle, carrying four people, driving south on Marmion Avenue in Ocean Reef about 10.40pm on March 17. The driver allegedly drove away at speed when police attempted to stop the car. Officers followed the car through multiple streets before it entered the freeway northbound via Hepburn Avenue. The driver allegedly attempted to turn the car around on the freeway but crashed into the train barrier and a police car. The four occupants tried to flee but were detained by police. Officers charged a 25-year-old South Lake man with eight offences, including two counts of assault with intent to prevent arrest and reckless driving to escape police.
