Indigenous cultures and traditions celebrated at schools.
SAMPLING tucker and making damper were some of the activities at Girrawheen Senior High School’s Naidoc celebrations.
The school hosted an early Naidoc event on June 26, ahead of the school holidays, with WA Police officers and cars wrapped in Aboriginal design attending as well.
Deputy Police Commissioner Stephen Brown, who is a school board member and former student, was the guest speaker.
Activities included story telling with Linda Jean, damper making with Nyoongar Outreach Services and sampling bush tucker food in the canteen.
During the afternoon, there was a football game played by students from the Girls Academy, Clontarf and all other Aboriginal students.
