Bur­bridge School in Koon­doola has com­mended friendly vol­un­teer Michelle Stam­palia for 30 years of help­ing out.

MICHELLE Stam­palia has vol­un­teered at Bur­bridge School for 30 years, start­ing when she was 21.

She orig­i­nally at­tended Bur­bridge School in 1981 as a stu­dent in her last year of school then came back to work at Bur­bridge School as a vol­un­teer when she was 21 years old.

She has vol­un­teered there ever since, work­ing ev­ery Tues­day and Thurs­day dur­ing term time, and has rarely missed a day.

The school held a spe­cial as­sem­bly and morn­ing tea to mark the mile­stone on Oc­to­ber 19.

Prin­ci­pal Cather­ine Kapiteyn thanked Ms Stam­palia for her con­tri­bu­tion to the school com­mu­nity.

“We feel priv­i­leged to have Michelle donate her time, en­ergy and cheer­ful per­sona to Bur­bridge School,” she said.

Ms Stam­palia takes on all the wash­ing for the school and helps teach some se­nior stu­dents the skills to carry out those tasks.

Al­ways smil­ing, she has helped with pro­grams in the class­room and in the school li­brary some­times as well.
