National wins for lifesavers
MULLALOO and Sorrento have been recognised nationally, with two locals winning at the Surf Life Saving Australia Awards of Excellence. Sandy Clarke from Mullaloo Surf Life Saving Club was named Volunteer of the Year. Clarke has been involved in almost every aspect of surf lifesaving this season.
From Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club, Jenny Plint won Surf Sports Coach of the Year. Under her watch, athletes won gold medals at the Aussies this year, with one sprinter breaking a record held since 1953. Also vying for awards were Mullaloo’s Mark Hills and Sorrento’s Jackson Symonds.
