Man charged after highway crash
CANNINGTON Detectives charged a Girrawheen man (26) after he allegedly crashed a stolen car into a business in South Perth last Thursday.
According to WA Police, the man was driving the Toyota Camry Sportivo along Canning Highway when he collided with an Audi sedan at the intersection of Douglas Avenue. The Camry came to rest on its side in the doorway of a tax agent’s office.
The man escaped through the sunroof of the car and ran off before being found by police a short time later.
Both drivers received minor injuries and the cars and buildings were damaged extensively.
Detectives charged the 26-year-old with dangerous driving causing bodily harm, stealing a motor vehicle and driving recklessly, and failing to stop.
He was also charged with failing to stop and ensure assistance received after a bodily harm incident, failure to report a bodily harm incident, obstructing police and failing to give police personal details.
