Lessons live from China

Kwinana Courier - - News -

SOUTH Coast Baptist College students have been learning Chinese straight from the source.

Students in years 3 to 7 have been learning Chinese live from Beijing.

My Chinese Teacher director Tom Shugg said the lessons were at the forefront of innovation in the education sector.

“We’re using technology to overcome the traditional hurdles of finding and keeping a language teacher,” he said.

“South Coast Baptist College are putting their students in a great position to capitalise on the rising middle class of China.

“With our teachers live from Beijing, the students get to speak to a native Chinese speaker.

“Using technology helps us engage students at a higher level while opening students’ minds to a global world.

“At My Chinese Teacher, our goal is to turn young students into global citizens.”

Principal Anthony Moses said the lessons were interactive, had a cultural component and local teachers got to learn Chinese as well.
