Bail granted on child ex­ploita­tion charges

A PORT Kennedy man charged with pos­sess­ing more than 450 images and videos de­pict­ing child ex­ploita­tion ap­peared in Rockingham Mag­is­trates Court on Septem­ber 7.

Frank Joseph Vi­ola was charged with pos­sess­ing child ex­ploita­tion ma­te­rial and un­li­censed pos­ses­sion of a firearm and am­mu­ni­tion.

Po­lice al­lege he had 431 cat­e­gory 1 (the least se­ri­ous cat­e­gory) images, 28 cat­e­gory 3 images and three cat­e­gory 3 videos.

Mag­is­trate Leanne Atkins re­newed his bail on the terms that he not ap­ply for any work­ing with chil­dren card, and that he have no un­su­per­vised ac­cess to a child un­der 16.

“You must stick to your bail by the let­ter, as one charge is in­dictable,” she said.

He did not en­ter a plea and will reap­pear for a po­lice com­mit­tal men­tion on Oc­to­ber 5.
