Mother ‘numb’ after the loss of one-year-old son
THE mother of a oneyear-old who died in Golden Bay said she is still coming to terms with the loss. EricaLeigh Lawrence’s son Nathaniel died on September 30; he had only just turned one in August.
The infant suffered a brain bleed when he was six weeks old in October 2017 and was not expected to survive.
However, the little fighter pulled through and lived for more than a year.
“He was happy and had his own special personality,” Ms Lawrence said.
“He was such a sweet little boy.”
Ms Lawrence said Nathaniel’s death is still quite fresh.
“(I’m) numb and still coming to terms with him actually being gone,” she said.
“I am broken and shattered and my family are just the same, and we now have the hardest part (of) trying to get a funeral together.”
