Funding call for fishers’ families
A GO Fund Me has started for the family of two dead and two missing fishermen from Mandurah after tragedy struck off Rottnest last week.
Jacob Pham (24) and Justin O’Neill’s (32) bodies were found in the waters off Garden Island on Friday. Uock Pham (50) and his brother Tuan Pham (40s) were still missing on Wednesday.
The foursome had gone on an overnight fishing trip in their boat Yeah Buoy.
When they did not return the alarm was raised, prompting a massive search off the coast.
Family member Belle Howard wrote that the funds raised would pay for the funeral of the two men who had been found and to support Mr O’Neill’s fiance Ashleigh Hough and their three children William (10), Jackson (8) and Zach (3).
Ms Howard described Jacob Pham as “the sweetest young man” who left behind an adoring mother Andrea Henning and two sisters, Ashleigh Hough and Jiordy Pham.
“Both losses leave huge holes in our family which can never be filled,” she wrote.
“We are still holding on to hope for finding Jacob and Jiordy’s father and Andrea’s husband Uock, along with his brother Tuan (father of two little boys).
“We are seeking funds to assist in the funeral costs and to aid the family members throughout the coming months as they come to terms with the losses, especially stay-at-home mum Ashleigh who is now raising three children by herself and has lost the breadwinner of her family.”
Police continued the search this week on the western side of Garden Island for the missing fishermen and their boat.
