Med­ina tal­ent a real marvel

THE Med­ina Com­mu­nity Fes­ti­val is on Sun­day.

The fes­ti­val is co­or­di­nated by the Med­ina Res­i­dents Group and is jam-packed with en­ter­tain­ment and ac­tiv­i­ties.

Its theme is about cel­e­brat­ing the Med­ina com­mu­nity and show­cas­ing lo­cal tal­ent.

Start­ing at 11am, there will be a Wel­come to Coun­try by El­der Marie Tay­lor, fol­lowed by the Deadly Sista Girls from Med­ina Pri­mary School.

A per­cus­sion team will en­gage the au­di­ence in the beat of the drum to set the mood for an ex­cit­ing event.

En­ter­tain­ment in­cludes Ab­so­lutely Bol­ly­wood and the Dinka Bor Tra­di­tional Dance groups, the beau­ti­ful voice of Natalie Car­mody, Gilmore Col­lege stu­dents the Ngaru Pou Maori group and Sian Brown.

The Med­ina Marvel Award will recog­nise a res­i­dent who has con­trib­uted to the rich­ness of Med­ina and the City of Kwinana.

All of the Mar­vels will be hon­oured at the fes­ti­val with the un­veil­ing of a pub­lic art­work doc­u­ment­ing all past re­cip­i­ents.

There will also be a range of craft ac­tiv­i­ties us­ing re­cy­cled ma­te­ri­als.

Tra­di­tional dancers Dab­ora Garang, Keth Duot and Achok Nyang will per­form at the Med­ina Com­mu­nity Fes­ti­val.
