STORY Dogs has reached a new mile­stone and will soon be help­ing more than 2000 chil­dren with their read­ing each year. This fig­ure is based on an av­er­age of five chil­dren read­ing to each dog and they do this each week for a school year. In the City of Rock­ing­ham area, there are 16 vol­un­teers and dogs at­tend­ing 11 pri­mary schools each week to lis­ten to their young stu­dents read story books one at a time. It is the pa­tience and non­judge­men­tal at­ti­tude of the dogs, aided by their own­ers, that helps the chil­dren.
