Not guilty plea over car death

THE woman charged with the mur­der of Baldivis teenager Ja­cob Cum­mins in Can­ning Vale last year has pleaded not guilty.

Aya Hish­meh (21) also en­tered pleas of not guilty to four charges of at­tempted mur­der in the Supreme Court last week.

Ms Hish­meh sobbed in court as she said “not guilty”.

She was re­manded to re­main in cus­tody, where she has been since her ar­rest ex­actly one year ago.

It has been a year since Ja­cob died after be­ing hit by a car on Eu­ca­lyp­tus Boule­vard in Can­ning Vale fol­low­ing a fight at a Can­ning Vale Mc­Don­ald’s, which con­tin­ued else­where.

Ja­cob’s friends, Robert Bell, Au­gus­tine Janga, Mark Kick­ett and An­wre Ige, were se­ri­ously in­jured.

Ms Hish­meh’s trial will be­gin on Jan­uary 30.
