Roo cull rejected
KANGAROO cull campaigners over the Murray River have had a setback.
A formal motion to investigate the need for a cull, specifically between Moama and Deniliquin, has been rejected by the NSW government.
One Deni local, Don Ward, expressed his opinion at the decision as ‘‘you have to wonder what rock (politicians) are under. Everything out here is decided by someone who has no idea. Do we have to have someone killed for something to be done?’’
Campaigners were told that ‘‘targeted kangaroo culling along major highways was likely to have limited benefits due to the tendency of kangaroos to move landscape. Roadside culls also raise significant public safety and logistical issues.’’
