IT’S NOT the counterfeit money scam of the century but it did fool someone.
A Mathoura woman discovered a two dollar coin she received in change was not what it appeared.
On closer inspection it was clear that someone had gone to the trouble of glueing two five cent pieces together and then spraying them with gold paint.
The prank was discovered when the woman went to buy a drink at the Mathoura Bowling Club.
Whoever was responsible made $1.90 on the deal (excluding glue and paint costs) but it seems unlikely such a scam will be making anyone rich.
