Summit to connect youth with the future
YOUNG people across Victoria are being invited to talk about the workplace of the future at the Victorian Government’s Youth Summit on Friday, April 5 at Marvel Stadium in Docklands, Melbourne.
Rapid global, technological, social and environmental changes are transforming the way we work, where we work and the kind of work we do.
The third annual Youth Summit will connect young people with government and the community to discuss jobs of the future, the rise of the gig economy, and how these changes affect young people’s experience of employment.
Youth minister Gabrielle Williams is inviting young Victorians aged 12 to 25 to share their views on what young people need to prepare for the future world of work.
Victorian Government’s inquiry into the Victorian on-demand workforce chair Natalie James will be the keynote speaker.
“Our Youth Summit offers young people the chance to engage with government on the issues that impact them the most – we’re looking forward to hearing their views about the future,’’ Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp said.
“Young people are our future. It’s essential that they have every opportunity to participate fully and fairly in training and employment.”
The Youth Summit also features interactive panels and workshops led by experts, insights from young people who are working in new ways, an expo showcasing industry and employment information and youth programs and initiatives, and performances by emerging Victorian artists.
Youth Summit kicks off Victorian Youth Week, which celebrates the achievements and positive contributions that young Victorians make in all aspects of life.
