Let’s help each other
>> On the horizon
WHAT a relief it is when I’m carefully inching my way across a dark room, to finally reach the light switch.
It would be so handy to be able to see in the dark — I would have saved myself numerous bruises over the years.
The alternative, when navigating darkness, is to have someone trustworthy guide me.
The Bible says of God, “…To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you” (Psalm 139:12 NLT).
My God sees when I can’t, and He knows the way when I have no visibility at all.
The light of normalcy has been darkened by uncertainty, fear and outright panic in recent weeks.
Despite our world being in upheaval at the moment, God’s many promises remain as true as ever.
His Word offers great encouragement such as, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you,” (Isaiah 41:10) and, “Nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:39).
God is with you.
God will help you.
God loves you.
Promises such as these provide such great security as we navigate our way through dark and uncertain times, leaning on the One who Himself is light and who sees and knows exactly what lies ahead.
It is vital that, while leaning on God, we also lean on each other, not only during this uncertain season, but during crises that people around us are facing daily.
We are better together.
Social gatherings may be limited, but you can phone your friends and family or suggest they tune into Vision Christian radio – available on 88.0 FM in Kyabram and Tongala, and 87.6 FM in Girgarre and Tatura.
And before you head to the supermarket, you can check whether your neighbour is running short of necessities.
Or maybe you’re the one needing hope or help. Don’t isolate yourself so far as to not lean on others if you are in need.
Christian churches across our nation have committed to pray daily at 7pm for an end to the pandemic, wisdom and strength for our government, and for peace to fill people’s hearts, replacing fear.
Together, let’s all lean on God and each other.
