Our June meeting was attended by 38 members, well down on our average attendance of 60 members, and because of a lack of entries the competition table was cancelled for June. Quite a few of our members were away and the meeting clashed with two local funerals.

The members were entertained by our two guest speakers, Di Haw and her mother Glenys, who gave an excellent presentation on growing figs. Glenys and Di maintained 700 fig trees. They added value to the figs by sun drying, caramelising, chocolate dipping the ripe figs and making fig and ginger jam. The end products were sold at various farmers’ markets. Our members were able to purchase these delicious products at the meeting.

Jan Griffiths won the Kyabram Bakery $20 gift voucher and Sandra Graham the Fab Flower $10 voucher. A big thanks to our sponsors.

The Garden Club's annual cuppa for cancer afternoon tea raised $93 — considering the low attendance, a very generous result.
