COVID pods are ahead of the curve
Covid-inspired outdoor seating pods have been delivered throughout Campaspe Shire to enable social distancing in public spaces.
Tongala is among five shire towns to have the trendy nature-inspired urban pods delivered to prominent locations for the impending warmth of spring and summer.
In all, 10 outdoor pods — worth about $70,000 — have been purchased with funding from the Victorian Government’s Local Councils temporary Outdoor Eating and Entertainment Package.
The pods, named The Loop by their Yarraville-based creators, seat six to eight people and are an attractive addition to the street landscape.
They are made by Set Square Productions, which built the steel and timber units from scratch.
The designers suggest the pods allow social distancing in a variety of situations, including public spaces, which is their major use in the Campaspe region.
They can now be seen in parks and hospitality venues across metropolitan and regional Victoria.
Four of the pods are in Echuca, while the remaining six are spread through Tongala, Rochester, Kyabram and Rushworth.
Set Square Productions is responsible for creative sculptured roses and custom-build coffee carts at Flemington racecourse.
