Postmaster hurt
Strathmerton Post Office is out of business at the moment after the alleged assault of its postmaster, John Burke.
It was alleged a 42-year-old Numurkah man assaulted Mr Burke at 1.15am at the Strathmerton Roadhouse on August 7.
Mr Burke suffered a brain bleed, broken hip and pelvis and is recovering in the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
The Numurkah man faced charges of recklessly causing injury when he appeared in the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court last Friday.
