Legacy hit by COVID restrictions

Legacy Week kicks off next week across Australia and runs from Monday, August 30, to Friday, September 3.

Normally Legacy volunteers would hit the streets in Kyabram, Tongala, Stanhope and Merrigum selling merchandise to raise funds to support the widows of military veterans.

“While a week is a long time in footy, the same can be said with the current COVID regional lockdown,” Legacy chairperson Don Cook said.

All Legacy Week merchandise activities have been cancelled along with the postponement of the traditional Lone Pine ceremonies at Kyabram P-12 College and St Augustine's College.

However, during Legacy Week there will be merchandise available (iconic badges, pens, key rings, wristbands and cuddly teddy bears) on the counter at Ky Lucky Lotto and Kyabram Newsagency, Tongala Post Office and GTS Farm Supplies.

“Legacy was established over 60 years ago and there has been strong support over that time. All funds raised are spent locally looking after our widows across the district,” Mr Cook said.

“Rest assured as volunteers we will regroup and be back again next year.”
