Magpie geese make themselves at home
There have been birds — of the feathered variety — turning heads at Deniliquin.
Three magpie geese were spotted sunning themselves in Mcfaull Park lagoon behind the town’s Civic Place.
The black and white coloured magpie geese are associated mainly with northern Australian wetlands but for many years now the Kyabram Fauna Park has had them in its wetlands.
But what have disappeared in recent years from the Fauna Park and surrounding properties are Cape Barren geese.
Kyabram was home to several pairs of the geese for many years over the past 20 years and rather ironically were thought to have found their way to Kyabram from the Deniliquin area.
