Mourners fined

Five people in Shepparton are $1800 poorer after breaching COVID restrictions.

Police were called to home at 2.30am on Saturday, August 21, where they found 10 people conducting a wake for a relative.

They were given a warning and five who were not residents of the house were asked to move on.

But police were called again at 10.30am the same morning and found the five who they had ordered to leave were still there — and this time they were hit with a $1800 fine.

All who were fined were Shepparton residents.
