Four face theft and drugs charges

Four people will face court after two vehicles were allegedly stolen from Bamawm and later found with firearms and methamphet­amines inside.

About 5am on Tuesday, August 17, a property owner heard a disturbanc­e as two vehicles were allegedly stolen.

Shortly after, the victim and an associate came across a vehicle they believed was involved in the burglary and apprehende­d two of the alleged offenders in a citizen’s arrest before police arrived.

More than three hours later at Timmering, after a tip-off from a member of the public, police found two other alleged offenders hiding in long grass near the second stolen vehicle.

According to police, when the vehicles were searched, firearms and methamphet­amines were located.

A Kyabram man, 28, and a Rochester woman, 35, were charged and bailed.

A Girgarre woman, 29, and a Kyabram man, 31, were remanded in custody and will appear at Echuca Magistrate­s’ Court.
