KCLC thanks local businesses for food donations

- By Myles Peterson

Following earlier reporting of the overwhelming support coming from the Kyabram community towards charities and care organisations helping those in need of food, Kyabram Community and Learning Centre's Claire Perrella has come forward to thank the many local businesses and individuals who have supported KCLC.

“We have had many offers of help and have recently had a huge donation of nutritional food, which has topped our food share pantry and enabled us to meet the current demands,” Ms Perrella said.

“Local businesses Sheridan Partners, Dawes & Vary Riordan, Water Partners, Elders Insurance and the Fitzgerald’s family butchers have given the Kyabram Community and Learning Centre food share pantry a welcome boost.

“The businesses rallied together for a food winter drive to donate trolley loads of nutritious food, meats, vegetables and non-perishables to the KCLC food pantry, which has really helped us meet the current needs.”

Ms Parrella thanked the businesses for their support over of the past four years, along with the wider community.

“We have also had an overwhelming response of people wanting to donate, volunteer and help with delivering of food, which is amazing,” she said.

“Everyone’s willingness to reach out and support our community is greatly appreciated and does not go unnoticed.

“At present we are managing the demand and we will reach out if we require additional support to reach the community, keeping in mind that we need to also keep our community safe.”

The KCLC, Community Church Kyabram and Salvation Army came together last month to send a message and promise of support to the local community.

All operate free food services, and representatives for all three said they were more than willing to help those in need of food, whatever the reason.
