All are playing the waiting game

- — Young Joe

At present we aren’t allowed to play or practise bowls because of COVID-19 restrictions. We are allowed to maintain the greens and the surrounds but must wear a mask, sign in manually or by the code and maintain social distancing. There is a sheet in the shed to do the sign-in, either by phone or manually.

If you have any concerns, we have an official letter to cover you travelling to the club or actually working at the club.

As you will be aware, we haven’t held the annual general meeting but we have all board positions filled and the present executive are carrying out all jobs that have to be done until we can at last hold the meeting.

It is proposed to hold the opening day on Sunday, September 26 at 1pm at the green. Please wear your club uniform and bring a plate of afternoon tea.

All new and prospective members are most welcome and don’t have to wear a uniform.

We can have a COVID-SAFE cuppa after the opening.

It was great to see greenkeeper Rob Dennis arrive home safely from his Queensland holiday. He had a bit of drama crossing NSW in one go but all’s well that ends well.

As soon as we are allowed, official training will begin each Thursday at 4pm. At this stage we cannot say when the Thursday meals will commence.

We have new bowls rings so make sure you change your old ones. Thanks to John Firmer for organising this matter.

Membership has not been officially set by the board but it is thought that this season we will have to raise the subs to $125 and juniors and social members will remain at $20.

Stay well, keep safe and we hope to see you all soon.
