Spectacular books for 'Booktacular'

-

The Kyabram P-12 College Library is holding its ‘Booktacular’ from the week commencing Monday, October 4.

Students, staff and the parent community are encouraged to get involved in the celebration, with a variety of events to run over a three-week period.

The theme for this year’s ‘Booktacular’ is Curious Creatures — Wild Minds. All activities will be focused on inspiring students to be curious and wild.

Due to the staggered student return to on-site learning, students will engage in the interactive activities as they return to school.

The excitement will commence with a virtual presentation, Bringing Books to Life, engaging students in dance, song and storytelling.

This year the library has organised author/illustrators Felice Arena, Adam Wallace, Chris Kennett and George Ivanoff, who have designed virtual presentations for the students.

Chris Humphrey from Wild Action interactive wildlife will present Zoo Zooms from Wildlife HQ. Chris is well known for his television wildlife shows and appearing on Dr Harry's Animal Encounters.

Students will also have the opportunity to attend the Booktacular Expo, with 25 stations, providing them with a range of interactive activities and giveaways when they attend.

The Scholastic Book Fair will run until October 22, with the opportunity to purchase books. A virtual tour will be available via social media for parents wishing to make a purchase.

Another Booktacular event will be the College Book Drive, a library initiative to encourage student borrowing and library ownership, which aims to add new non-fiction books into the College library. Students will select pre-purchased books and have their name placed inside the cover, ready for the library.

The celebration will conclude with a fun dress-up day, with students and staff dressing in their favourite book creature or character.
