Sue savours further success

- By Zac Standish

Kyabram’s Sue Reid is making a splash on the quilting scene, recently finishing runner-up in the Victorian Quilters’ One Step Further exhibition.

Presented at the Kyabram Town Hall Gallery, One Step Further is a biennial juried exhibition of contemporary and innovative textile art that the Victorian Quilters have run since 1988.

The exhibition is open to all textile artists from Australia and New Zealand and as the name implies it is expected that work entered goes ‘one step further’ in style, technique and presentation.

Having taken out first prize on two occasions, Ms Reid said it was an honour to be recognised as one of the standout artists once again.

“I was second last year and have won it twice in the past so for some reason what I do seems to fit in well with the judges here,” Ms Reid said.

“It kind of reinforces what you are doing, as sometimes you aren’t sure how good your work is compared to others, so it is a great feeling to come away with another strong result at this exhibition.”

Ms Reid claimed second prize for her Abandonment #4 project, while also being highly commended for another piece.
