Kyabram RSL plans service
Kyabram RSL sub-branch will hold a commemoration service on November 11 in remembrance of those who served and died in the line of duty.
Taking place at the Kyabram memorial gardens, the ceremony is set to begin just before 11am, with patrons asked to arrive at 10.45am.
Kyabram RSL sub-branch secretary and treasurer Robert Stone said the community of Kyabram was always supportive.
“The community always comes together well in Kyabram,” Mr Stone said.
“It’s a very supportive community, they always go out of their way to partake.”
The day marks a time to reflect and honour those who stood for Australia, and while the ceremony this year will be more ‘normal’ than last year’s, some coronavirus restrictions still apply.
“Naturally there’s criteria due to restrictions and following government guidelines — signing in and being vaccinated are mandatory,” Mr Stone said.
In the lead-up to Remembrance Day, RSL members and volunteers are selling poppies through the Poppy Appeal to raise funds for veterans.
“We deeply appreciate any time given by those volunteering,” Mr Stone said.
Stalls can be found around Kyabram at Ritchies IGA, outside Woolworths and at 174 Allan St.
