A number of under-14s will be taking part in the Giants Academy training sessions this season, to provide “a bit of progressio­n towards the club’s future”.

He hopes the move will benefit the club, which has lost a couple of the younger names on its senior list from 2021.

“We’ve got a similar list to last year — minus three or four,” Knight said, with one recruit returning after a period away from Jerilderie.

With a fairly extensive list of Demons stalwarts remaining at the club, Knight says there are no significan­t signings on the horizon.

Sports and Life Training (SALT) sessions are also being held across the region including at Jerilderie, to establish players’ connection to the way their physical and mental health intersect.

The Dees will visit Blighty to play the Redeyes in round one of the season.
