75th settlement anniversary

A new memorial in the Soldiers Park at Numurkah was unveiled recently to mark the 75th anniversary of the Murray Valley Soldier Settlement Scheme.

It was the largest scheme of its type in Australia and stretched from Yarroweyah to beyond Nathalia and from Strathmerton to Numurkah and included a total of 519 irrigated dairy and fruit farms and occupied 25,500ha.
