AQUATIC CENTRE DESIGN REVEALED
The NSW government and Parramatta city council have revealed the design for the Parramatta Aquatic and Leisure centre, after more than a year of secrecy. Designed by Grimshaw, Andrew Burges Architects and McGregor Coxall, the project is defined by a ring structure which encircles the centre’s outdoor pool and offers shade and circulation.
The other main elements are a “carved” landscape, with the pool to be set below natural ground, and a building with a gymnasium, which will act as a buffer between the nearby road and railway.
