The Rocks Laneway UDLA
Aboriginal Nation Yamatji Client City of Greater Geraldton Location Geraldton, Western Australia
Jury comment
The Rocks Laneway transforms Geraldton with its ephemeral sense of place. It performs its primary function of connection between the foreshore and the key attractions of the city and then goes on to play in the space of past memory and future potential: light and shade; inside and outside; building and non-building. Overall, the project is a valuable incision in the city centre delivered with a high level of competence and imagination, as well as a commitment to public consultation. It is a meaningful and engaging urban space.
