The Australian Institute of Horticulture (AIH) represents a wide variety of occupations devoted to promoting excellence and environmental responsibility in the plant sciences. The use of a registered horticulturist on your project will ensure an ethical, professional and exciting outcome.

Since its inception more than 60 years ago, the AIH has become the pre-eminent national body for horticulturists in Australia. AIH represents members throughout Australia and overseas. It stands for a range of horticultural interests across every industry group, including production, environmental, recreational, ornamental, urban, lifestyle and design, training and higher education.

A registered horticulturist has a higher profile and has received recognition and acknowledgement of their skills at a local, national and international level. AIH actively promotes registered horticulturists to be specified as a requirement of government and private sector projects.

The benefits of using a registered horticulturist for your project:

• highly skilled input;

• a more confident project outcome;

• a higher degree of competence; and

• reassurance that an accredited professional is involved.

A registered horticulturist must:

• hold professional indemnity insurance;

• comply with the AIH Code of Ethics;

• attend workshops and approved activities and events; and

• participate in the AIH Continuing Professional Development program.

What our industry is saying about using registered horticulturists on their projects:

“Jiwah is an Indigenous company specializing in cultural landscape and design. Our team of horticulturists, including an apprentice and a trainee, are an incredible asset to Jiwah projects. The horticultural team influences everything, from soil and plant selection, to how a space may be impacted by the surrounding built and natural environment, to plant health and diagnoses of pests and diseases. In a company that strives for a more organic approach to landscape design, installation and maintenance, the team’s plant knowledge and horticultural experience is an incredible asset.”
