PERTH ZOO MASTERPLAN RELEASED
The Western Australian government has released a new 20-year masterplan for Perth Zoo, designed by Hassell and Iredale Pedersen Hook. The proposal includes a new cafe and function centre, a new orangutan enclosure with tents and boardwalk, animal overhead tunnels, an extension of the African savanna environment; a tiger and sun bear precinct; and a new conservation centre that will allow the public to see procedures underway in the veterinary hospital. The WA government has allocated $43.5 million to kickstart the project. Image: courtesy Hassell and Iredale Pedersen Hook
