Jury comment

Bago Maze is a whimsical hedge maze located in the grounds of Bago Winery in the New South Wales North Coast hinterland. It is remarkable in that since its inception in 2006, it has become a critical and successful landscape drawcard for visitors to this offthe-beaten-track location. The design incorporates a myriad of symbology inspired by the process of wine production, from vineyard to consumption. Progressively implemented on a minimal budget, Bago Maze has become an iconic destination, and it provides an exemplar of a small landscape architecture project that achieves a significant outcome for the client and the community.
