Jury comment

The Albury Skate and Active Recreation Precinct meets a growing demand for public spaces that enable all ages to meet, take risks, challenge themselves, and improve fitness and strength. As one of Australia’s leading skateparks, it presents a visually bold “street” aesthetic that blurs its skate function with a unique and highly contemporary theme. The facility brings together a range of activities, offering a separate vert ramp (half-pipe), a bespoke parkour area, bouldering, and ball sports areas, and a pump track. With sportslevel lighting enabling it to operate into the night, this is a truly special, integrated and vibrant space for people of all ages in the region. It sets a new national benchmark of what is possible in youth-inclusive, intergenerational, unstructured recreation and sporting spaces.
