Jury comment
In Melbourne’s outer south-eastern suburbs, Arcadia Dragon Park creates an exciting and magical playground with a sculptural dragon at its centre. As children of different ages and abilities are enticed into the mouth of the giant dragon’s head, they are drawn into another world of both mythical creatures and Australian animal sculptures that appear to have crash-landed in the familiar park and suburban landscape. The project acts as a connection point for an emerging suburban community, providing instant identity and bringing joy to all users. The design’s exuberance is supported by quality execution and thoughtful details.
