The Green Factor Tool is a free, online, evidencebased green infrastructure assessment tool. The tool provides meaningful guidance to landscape architects, designers, planners and developers and helps benchmark and optimize greening concepts in new developments. The project delivers on City of Melbourne’s ambition to encourage a greater quantity and quality of greening in the private realm and ensure that development responds to the climate and biodiversity emergency.

The tool prompts users to consider green roofs, green walls, vertical greening, vegetation retention, rain gardens, canopy and biodiversity as part of their design response. The jury commends the intellectual leadership and generosity of the project in assisting the landscape architecture profession to contribute to climate-positive design outcomes as an intrinsic part of the creative process.
