The tal­ented mem­bers of the Coolum Art Group have been busy pre­par­ing for their spring ex­hi­bi­tion. There will be tra­di­tional and con­tem­po­rary painters work­ing with all kinds of me­dia such as acrylic, wa­ter­colours, oils and pastels. Fed­eral mem­ber for Fair­fax Ted O’Brien will of­fi­cially open the show on Satur­day, Septem­ber 24 at 2pm. It’s free en­try, so come along, meet the artists and ad­mire the fan­tas­tic dis­plays. A num­ber of works will also be avail­able to pur­chase as a re­sult of th­ese for­ays onto our beaches and the hin­ter­land land­scapes of our beau­ti­ful Sun­shine Coast.


Septem­ber 30 Time: 5–9pm

Where: Bul­cock Beach Esp, Caloundra.

En­joy a great night out with friends and fam­ily roam­ing the beau­ti­ful Bul­cock Beach Es­planade and its stun­ning back­drop of the Pum­mice­s­tone Pas­sage. Fea­tur­ing 100 unique stalls with street food, gourmet sweets, fashion, jew­ellery, fun stuff for the kids, live music, street per­form­ers and more. Oc­to­ber 5 Time: 6:30pm for 7pm screen­ing

Where: Event Cin­e­mas, Sun­shine Plaza, Maroochydo­re. In sup­port of the Cindy Macken­zie Breast Cancer Pro­gram, join in a pri­vate screen­ing of Brid­get Jones’s Baby. Tick­ets are $20 which in­cludes the movie, a glass of sparkling wine and a cup­cake. Bring your friends and help sup­port lo­cal fam­i­lies af­fected by breast cancer.


Oc­to­ber 7 Time: 6–9pm

Where: Aussie World, 73 Frizzo Rd, Palmview.

To co­in­cide with kick­ing off the Aus­tralasian Po­lice and Emer­gency Ser­vices Games, The Sun­shine Coast Po­lice com­mu­nity in­vites you to a fam­ily fun night at Aussie World. Tick­ets are $30 per per­son and are on sale un­til Oc­to­ber 7. Early bird tick­ets are on sale now and are $25 per per­son. This gives you un­lim­ited ac­cess to all rides and at­trac­tions for three hours. Chil­dren three years and un­der are free.

The Bud­erim Gar­den Club is hold­ing its an­nual fes­ti­val and this year’s theme colour is blue. The two day event will in­clude a spring flower show, pho­to­graphic com­pe­ti­tion and a grower’s plant mar­ket. Tick­ets are $15 and are now avail­able at Manawee Nurs­ery, the old Bud­erim Post Of­fice, Bud­erim Newsagent or Bendigo Bank Bud­erim. Pre-booked groups of 10 or over will get a dis­count to $12. Af­ter sell­ing out in its first two fes­ti­vals, this year’s lineup is liv­ing up to ex­pec­ta­tions. Catch The Liv­ing End, Thun­da­men­tals, Dune Rats, Remi, Ti­juana Car­tel, Young Franco, Odd Mob, Sa­hara Beck, The Bel­liger­ents and more. This year, camp­ing for over 18’s has been added for the first time which al­lows fes­ti­val go­ers to ar­rive on the Fri­day and camp for two nights.
