Live ac­tion is on the menu this sum­mer as sport takes cen­tre stage

THE sport­ing gods have shone all their live ac­tion good­ness on Bris­bane this sum­mer, leav­ing no sports fan without 100 rea­sons to don their team’s colours and slap on the war paint.

Here are just a few of the rip­per sport­ing matches on the cal­en­dar this sum­mer:

BRIS­BANE GLOBAL RUGBY TENS – FE­BRU­ARY 11-12

More than 300 star play­ers will invade Sun­corp Sta­dium this Fe­bru­ary as the city plays host to the Bris­bane Global Rugby Tens. There will be 10 Aus­tralian and New Zealand Su­per Rugby clubs, plus elite teams from South Africa, Samoa, Ja­pan and Toulon France who will com­pete in a 10-a-side knock­out tour­na­ment over the two days. Games are played in 10-minute halves in an ab­bre­vi­ated form of rugby – faster, more fu­ri­ous and in­cred­i­bly en­ter­tain­ing. Another perk - get among the Fan Zone at South Bank on Fe­bru­ary 10 from 11am-3pm where you’ll get the chance to meet all play­ers, lis­ten to player Q&As, get au­to­graphs, and it’s to­tally free.

BRIS­BANE DOU­BLE-HEADER RUGBY LEAGUE – MAY 13

You thought one game was good… Come May 13, footy fans will get to ex­pe­ri­ence not one, but two nail-bit­ing clashes as the Mel­bourne Storm take on the Gold Coast Ti­tans and the Manly Sea Ea­gles play the Bris­bane Bron­cos straight af­ter­wards.

BRIS­BANE ROAR – UN­TIL MID-APRIL

The Bris­bane Roar con­tinue to put on a show on home soil in the A-League com­pe­ti­tion and if you are ready to feel the roar, get your­self a seat in the grand stand this sea­son.

SU­PER RUGBY – FE­BRU­ARY TO JULY

Watch the Queens­land Reds dom­i­nate on the rugby union field as they take on 15 other teams in the Su­per Rugby com­pe­ti­tion. There are plenty of home games that will at­tract huge crowds – and you could be there.

FIRE­BIRDS – FE­BRU­ARY TO JUNE

With new cap­tain Gabi Simp­son at the helm, the Queens­land Fire­birds are on track for a pas­sion­ate and vic­to­ri­ous sea­son in 2017. Off the back of a premier­ship-win­ning year, the girls are fired up to do it all again this year.

LIONS – MARCH TO AU­GUST

Get your mates to­gether at the Gabba. The first home game of the sea­son will kick off against Essendon and you’re guar­an­teed to see spec­tac­u­lar marks, im­pos­si­ble goals and amaz­ing ac­tion from the Bris­bane Lions.

BRON­COS – MARCH TO SEPTEM­BER

Kick­ing off at Sun­corp Sta­dium on March 10, the Bron­cos take on the Cow­boys in round two of the NRL. Show your colours at the var­i­ous home games this footy sea­son.
