Kansas City is home to the Na­tional World War I Mu­seum and Me­mo­rial, Amer­ica’s of­fi­cial mu­seum ded­i­cated to the First World War: the­world­war.org. The Kauff­man Cen­ter for Per­form­ing Arts, which opened in 2011, is at­tract­ing big names thanks to its ac­claimed acous­tics. Union Sta­tion, a for­mer rail hub that has been con­verted into an en­ter­tain­ment precinct, hosts a va­ri­ety of fam­ily-friendly ac­tiv­i­ties in­clud­ing the per­ma­nent Sci­ence City in­stal­la­tion. It is cur­rently host­ing the North Amer­i­can pre­miere of The Pom­peii Ex­hi­bi­tion: union­sta­tion.org. Kansas City is known as the City of Foun­tains and the largest con­cen­tra­tion of foun­tains are in the Coun­try Club Plaza shop­ping district: coun­tryclub­plaza.com. The Nel­son-Atkins Mu­seum of Art fea­tures the renowned Hall­mark Pho­to­graphic Col­lec­tion and a sculp­ture gar­den in­clud­ing the fa­mous 5.8m-tall shut­tle­cocks: nel­son-atkins.org.
