Make travel to paradise comfy
CRUISING, what’s not to love? Unpack once, a variety of activities to enjoy onboard and travel to wonderful new destinations.
When it comes to cruising, I am an advocate for this style of holiday. What I love most about it isthere is something for everyone to do.
Whether your interests lie in taking a much-needed break by the pool, seeing a show on board, to getting a little more adventurous and going rockclimbing or ice skating, it’s all there.
If you are a first-time cruiser I definitely have a few tips when setting sail on your cruise holiday. It all starts with booking and selecting your cabins. When selecting your cabin, it is best to aim for a cabin in the mid-ship area. This avoids the potential front rockiness when there is a bit of weather and avoids the rear cabins where there might be engine noise.
Additionally if you can manage to pay the extra charge (sometimes only an extra $50) for a balcony room, take it. I loved the balcony cabin’s natural light and the opportunity to watch the sea. Additionally, when coming into destination ports, I loved sitting on the balcony.
On the day you set sail, opt for an early embarkation time. Not only can you get yourself all settled into ‘cruise’ mode but it gives you an extra day to enjoy the ship. I love the easiness of doing a cruise, especially the entertainment.
Being a bit of a foodie, I really enjoy the variety of the food and drinks. However, just be aware of what your cruising package includes. It is easy to chalk up a big bill and get a nasty surprise when you get home. Speak with your travel consultant about pre-purchasing drink packages and sometimes your cruise fare will include these for free.
I would recommend cruising for everyone. It’s great for families and kids, groups of friends, honeymoons, girls’ trips or boys’ trips – cruising really does cater for everyone.
