What’s trending on social media this week

Life & Style Weekend - - TREND - with Alexia Purcell Alexia Purcell is a social media editor at News Corp.

AMID the grim nature that was the severe flooding in Lismore, there was one man giving people a well-needed laugh.

South Lismore resident Tom Papworth had strung a sign up on the balcony of this two-storey property.

He was completely surrounded by floodwater. And he was almost out of chicken nuggets.

He told me he was stuck inside and thought he’d make a sign to give people a bit of a laugh.

“I’m just an everyday guy who was running low on nuggets and thought it would be in good taste to share some lighthearted humour with a grief-stricken community.”

And while they may not be airdropped, the SES received Tom’s message (after I tweeted them our story) loud and clear. And getting him some chicken nuggets is on their to-do list. Brent Hunter from NSW SES said: “I have personally spoken to Tom and unfortunately advised him no nuggs are on the way due to higher priorities.

“But I will try and get him some in the next couple of weeks.” Tom is just glad his sign brought a bit of light relief to the situation.
