CAFE survival for the 21st century: good coffee with a side of wi-fi.

While surfing the web and sipping a flat white is a winning combo, a few Sunshine Coast cafes have gone one step further and literally combined surfing with coffee. Stocking all kinds of surf gear from apparel to boards and even surf photography plus the liquid gold to fuel a surf, we’ve mapped out five of the best board shapers/baristas on the Coast.

Surf and drink coffee is their motto, but there is so much more behind Compound Secondhand Surf and Espresso. The not-for-profit venture had been brewing in the minds of Coolum surfers, Abe Andrews and Aaron Bradley, for years. Their dream was to create a space for surfing enthusiasts to hang out and meet like-minded people while perusing quality surf-brand clothing, surfboards and other equipment to raise money for Christian Surfers Australia. That dream became a reality in September 2014 and the team at Compound are still pumping out coffees, surf gear and overall good vibes. Get involved by donating items like surf-branded clothing, beachwear, retro or vintage surfboards, kids' surf clothing and other surf accessories like wetsuits, fins and leg ropes.
