Round 6 of the world’s premier net­ball club com­pe­ti­tion comes to Sippy Downs for a pul­sat­ing clash at USC Sta­dium. 2017 pre­miers the Light­ning host last sea­son’s mi­nor pre­miers the Vix­ens in what will un­doubt­edly be a bat­tle royale.

The Mel­bourne club has started the year in slightly bet­ter form and sits just one place and one point above Sun­shine Coast on the lad­der, but the Light­ning ladies took the points last time the two teams met. For tick­et­ing in­for­ma­tion head to the Light­ning’s web­site.

There’s an ATM just 30 sec­onds walk from the venue.

The farm­ers’ mar­ket is on across the road at the school at the same time so pick up a bite to eat be­fore or af­ter and make the most of the day.

Mean­time, a lit­tle fur­ther south you’ll stum­ble across a hid­den treasure at Caloundra fea­tur­ing unique stalls for the fam­ily to en­joy.

With ac­tiv­i­ties for kids, hand­crafted lo­cally made prod­ucts and art, live en­ter­tain­ment and street the­atre, you’ll have a smile from ear to ear.

En­joy fresh food and juices, tasty cof­fee and de­li­cious sweet treats. Set in beau­ti­ful down­town Caloundra, the main street is sur­rounded by cafes, bou­tiques and spe­cialty shops and only two blocks from beau­ti­ful Bul­cock Beach.

A fea­ture raceday on the Sun­shine Coast Turf Club’s cal­en­dar with two Group 2 and five Listed races to keep pun­ters busy. The first jumps at 12.42pm with the last at 5.50pm. For those more in­ter­ested in frocks and fas­ci­na­tors than thor­ough­breds, why net get a group to­gether and spend spend the day so­cial­is­ing at the track? There’s live en­ter­tain­ment by Pat Ni­chol­son too so book your ticket on­line for $15 or buy it at the gate for $20.

Ty­ing the knot but not sure where to cel­e­brate the mo­men­tous oc­ca­sion? Per­haps a trip to pic­ture-per­fect Mooloolaba where you can view a truly stun­ning wed­ding space. Ex­clu­sively lo­cated on the sec­ond floor, boast­ing floor to ceil­ing glass with com­plete coastal views to­wards Noosa, the venue of­fers wed­ding re­cep­tions and cer­e­monies from 10-200 guests, rang­ing from cock­tail to a three-course menu. The Surf Club has the flex­i­bil­ity to suit your needs and bud­gets.

Head along and meet the staff, some of sup­pli­ers and taste the de­li­cious food and wine on of­fer. This is a free event open to the public.

SLOW FASH­ION – ARTFUL LIV­ING

Where: The Art­room. Caloundra Re­gional Gallery.

Dip your toes or im­merse your­self in the world of de­sign and sus­tain­able fash­ion. Sun­shine Coast Coun­cil’s Fab­ric – Slow Fash­ion, Artful Liv­ing pro­gram brings art and sus­tain­abil­ity to­gether in a cu­rated pro­gram of de­sign and fash­ion in­spired ac­tiv­i­ties. Print­ing on cloth with nat­u­ral dyes is run by Anne Har­ris and costs $80.

You’ll learn how to cre­ate images and prints us­ing sus­tain­able meth­ods, and how to make and source your own nat­u­ral dye.

Dur­ing the work­shop you’ll use cot­ton, linen and silk fab­rics, plus you’ll take home five squares (30x30cm) with your own unique art. Book­ing are re­quired at www.sun­shinecoast.qld.gov.au/arts

NOOSA BREW­ERY TRAIL

Sun­day beers never tasted so good when you take a tour of the amaz­ing brew­eries in the Noosa re­gion.

Vis­it­ing Land & Sea, Eu­mundi Brew­ery and Cop­per­head in Cooroy, you’ll get lunch, a tast­ing pad­dle of beer at each venue, a be­hind the scenes brew­ery tour, a stubby holder, a meet and greet with the brew­ers plus re­turn trans­fers in­cluded.

You’ll be picked up from one of the fol­low­ing lo­ca­tions be­fore mak­ing your way to the first stop of the day; Moto Bar, Noosa Junc­tion (12pm), Noosa Heads Bus Ter­mi­nal (12.10pm) or Flux, Gympie Ter­race Noosav­ille (12.20pm).
